A Dunleavy game at its best, excitement, everything can't wait to get back down there, Glad to see the clubs super stars looking at Dunleavy games and adding comments, surprised they've got the time.

Great game guys...a deserved draw I reckon, both sides putting in a decent shift. It would have been harsh for either of you to lose that one.

John got the better of the opening, especially after 9..Nd5 and 11..Qd8. I started to advance my queenside pawns which caused White some difficulties later on. 23.Qh4 would have posed some problems for me as John says. After the exchange of Queens and my capture of the pawn on a2 I felt I had the advantage. With a winning position in the end game I blew it under time pressure. Still, a very enjoyable game.

Pressure, oh pressure. Really gut wrenching stuff. We've all been there, Alan. That said, well done for hanging on in there, John, and to take your chance once the opportunity came along. Not much else to say other than: Phew!

Shredder's take on the game is below. Last week Alan snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. This week he snatched a draw from the jaws of victory. Next week?

What a Rook and Pawn end game. All watching learnt something last night.

Having created a decent opening I managed to choose 22.g3 instead of better Qh4. Despite two more poor moves 24 Nd4 and 26Nf3 I would still have been on top with Nc6. Things went downhill from there till Alan let me back in the ending which I may have gone on to win but I didn't deserve it and settled for the draw. Very enjoyable game but too much self inflicted defending.
