Thanks for your interesting comments on this game guys. It is really useful to have your feedback. On a more general note I am really enjoying playing chess (win or lose!) at the club. As a "new boy' you have all made me feel very welcome and I'm also grateful for all the generous comments, support, and tips I have received. I must say the website is brilliant in all respects. I've read some of the Forum posts and plan to contribute myself at some point when I am more "au fait" with things. The ability to be able to submit games so easily and get comments from other players is great, plus all the other features - well done Phil.

Good game to play through. It doesn't look like Barclay is in any trouble on move 26, sitting pretty with an extra piece. But two moves later it all looks very different. Barclay may have been a little carefree with the extra material (As I know all too well myself!!!) and we're beginning to see that against Alan that attitude is likely to bring you trouble! 26...Nf6 would be the level headed move. I like this London System although I've only tried it once (After only learning the first 3 moves or so) against Steve and he demolished me. Maybe after a lot more spit and polish I'll wheel it out again and have another bash! Great game guys

Yes, another exciting win for Alan. Alan, I can see that you are going to be a welcome addition to the club's pool of players willing to play sacrifices and gambits. When Cliff makes disparaging comments about this exciting style of play - as he surely will - just ignore him!
