Press Report 25th October 2019

The club had a busy week this week. In the Homan League Richard Thomas (70) exacted revenge on Barry Sweetman (60) but was then beaten himself a few days later by Steve Levy (187). Steve now sits at the top of the Homan League with 6 out of 6. Second place is occupied by Steve Dickinson (160) on 4 out of 5 after victory against Trevor Hurt (96). In the Dunleavey League David Archer (166) prevailed against Phil McConnell (118) to take top spot on 4.5 out of 6. James Schofield is still in a fantastic position in second on 4 out of 4 having played fewer games. Phil McConnell had a tough week by also losing to some sharp play from Roy Greenhalgh (104). Arthur Doble (93) played a solid game to take the point from Tony Collins (67).

The first contender for game of the week goes to Alan Davies (106) who played a fantastic game against Dennis Cowley (183) but somehow failed to spot the forced win at the end and settled for a draw, much to Dennis' relief. The Division 3 team travelled to Torquay Boys Grammer School on Wed 16th and came away 1-3 Winners. Victories by James Schofield and Phil McConnell on boards 1 and 2 and draws for Alan Davies and Roy Greenhalgh on 3 and 4. In the M-Wray Shield James Fowler (106) asserted his authority over Barry Sweetman (60) to take the point. The second game of the week contender, and in my opinion the winner, must go to Trevor Hurt (96) who played a blinder to befuddle Ben Wilkinson (141) and advance against the odds to the Quarter final of the Cookworthy Cup.
