Press Report 31st January 2020

This week on Mon 21st the South Hams Rapidplay team travelled to Brixham to do battle. It was a night of two halves as Brixham were 2.5 to 1.5 up at the interval. After some well needed refreshments the second round resumed and South Hams had a reversal of fortunes taking 3 of the 4 points on offer. The score for the night was 4.5 to 3.5 in South Hams favour. Nerve racking stuff. Steve Levy (0.5) vs Nathan Mills (1.5), David Archer (1) vs Chris Collins (1), Ben Wilkinson (2) vs Mike Cuggy (0), Trevor Hurt (1) vs Barry Lippard (1).

In the Dunleavey League Dennis Cowley (183) dismantled Alan Davis (106) to try and stretch his lead at the top of the table with 7 points. On the same evening David Archer (166) beat Tony Collins (67) to bring his total up to 6.5 points so still not much in it. Arthur Doble (93) had a great victory over Ken Ashby (98), nudging himself up to 6th with 4.5 points.

There was only one game this week in the Homan League and that saw Steve Levy (187) maintaining his 100% run. Richard Thomas (70) put up a valiant fight but was out-foxed in the end.

In the M-Wray Shield Barry Sweetman (60) scored a well earned point and some bragging rights against his old nemesis James Fowler (106). Barry now sits at the top of this illustrious league.

The Simon Bartlett Memorial Congress was held at the Livermead House Hotel over the weekend of the 25th and there were 3 club members who attended. Cliff Peach scored 2 in the Intermediate. Trevor Hurt scored 2.5 and Roy Greenhalgh 1.5 in the Minor section. Well played all.
