This excellent win - against a team that out-rated us by over 350 points - means that South Hams has started the season with 3 wins out of 3.
David played a fantastic game on board 1 against a very strong opponent - it's well worth playing this one.
On Board 2, as usual James ran his clock down quite early, but continued to play very well nevertheless. When his opponent's clock also ran down, James' play was the more accurate and he converted the pressure to a win.
On Board 3, the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit Declined was played, and a very sharp game ensued. The computer shows that Black had an advantage for most of the game, but this only tells a fraction of the story. Ben pressured his opponent into time trouble, and after dicing with death for 8 moves his time eventually ran out - a great win.
On Board 4, the game was tight for about 25 moves but Phil made a copule of mistakes in the end game whihc proved fatal.
Overall a great result - without our team captain, too!
