David Archer Wins the Major Tournament at the 2017 East Devon Congress

Many, many congratulations to David Archer, who was the outright winner of the Major (under 155) Tournament at this year'sEast Devon Chess Congress held at the Exeter Corn Exchange.

David was the only player in the Major to win all four of his opening games - despatching David Jenkins (134), Reece Whittington (139), Peter wood (128) and Charles keen (145). In the fifth and final round, he drew against Arthur Hibbit (153), thus finishing on 4½ out of 5 and winning the tournament outright. David played all his games in a very energetic style, and he has an uncanny knack of fightng back from what seems like a losing position, Brilliant!

Logged-in members of South Hams Chess Club can play through all David's games, which are already on the club's games database.
