The 2016 Festive Blitz Tournament

Many congratulations to our winner Steve Levy for scoring a very impressive 7/7. Tied for second place on 5/7 were Chris Willcox, Roy Greenhalgh and James Fowler.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to one and all.

Steve won the prize for the best score of the evening. Chris was awared the prize for the best performance.

 

Cliff v Ken was the last game to finish in round 1 - and quite an audience gathered round to watch.

 

Steve was not going to be put off by Ken's silly hat.

 

Chris had time to smile at the camera - and still win this game.

 

No relaxation for Ben tonight. He organised the pairings between rounds, as well as playing.

 

Some punters were hoping Ben might deprive Steve of a clean sweep. He had his chances, but it was not to be.

 

No wonder Cliff looks as if he's concentrating. He's a queen down.

 

James wasn't put off by Ken's silly hat either.

 

Oliver is looking confident here against Cliff.

 

John deep in thought... Zak's e-file is looking powerful.

 

Roy turned out to be a bit of a devil at the Blitz form of the game.

 

Zak is doing rather well against the maestro Steve - he's only a pawn down at this stage.
